- Always hand wash your suit in cool - clean fresh water after each wearing to reduce the effects of sun - sand - salt - and chlorine. Use a mild (Dove - Ivory - or liquid) soap and wash your bathing suit in the sink. Do not soak - and do not wring out b athing suit. Either hang it up or lay flat on a towel to dry - away from direct sunlight.
- Are there specific cleaners to avoid when cleaning swimsuits?
- Don't use Woolite or dry cleaning agents because they can damage the rubber in the elastic.
- How soon after use should I clean/wash by swimsuit?
- Oils and lotions will make the elastic in your swimsuit deteriorate if not removed from the suit within an hour or two after wearing the suit. All manufacturers that anylonger would be abusing the suit. They recommend using a good swimsuit cleaner that will remove oils and chlorine.
- What effect will a hot tub or spa have on my swimsuit?
- No hot tubs or spas! They will damage or fade the colors and elastic in your suit. Think of your hot tub as a washing machine with hot water and bleach in it.
