Having
the proper equipment and chemicals to adequately maintain a pool is a
must. In fact, many chemicals are used
weekly in what is called a “maintenance dose”.
Equipment that is essential for proper pool maintenance would include
vacuum hoses, pool brushes, an extension pole, and a vacuum head. All of this equipment is very important to
maintaining a clear, well-kept pool. The
extension pole is used in almost every application when working on a pool. Use the extension pole while vacuuming or
brushing to get to the harder-to-reach areas.
Vacuum hoses are essential to keeping a clean pool. They come in many sizes from twenty-five feet
to fifty feet. The size of the hose is
dependant on a number of factors. The
depth of the pool is a factor and so is the location of the skimmer. Choosing the proper hose length ensures that
you are able to reach all areas in your pool with no problem. Thirdly, brushing the pool is the best way to
keep algae out of the pool. Brushing
weekly would be considered a best practice by Swim Things. There are brushes available for vinyl pools
and specific brushes for gunite pools.
And lastly, using the proper vacuum head is very important. Much like brushes, vacuum heads are designed
to work well in either vinyl or gunite pools.
Vacuum heads with rollers are designed for gunite pools, and could
damage a vinyl liner. Finally, using the
